It took many hours before it started working properly (as pointed out in the manual) but did get faster with each batch. I tossed the first several batches. I am now down to two hours to produce one basket full. That is a long time considering the small amount of ice in a basket. Suggest if you need ice for an event, you start a week or two in advance. Was able to fill two gallon zip lock bags but it seems like I ran the machine all day. I have yet to determine if this is better than buying ice from the store.
